2. Information We Collect
We collect information that helps us provide a personalized experience. This includes:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you register.
- Social Login Data: If you sign up via Google or Facebook, we receive your name and email address as permitted by those platforms' privacy settings.
- Maker/Shop Data: Business name, description, city, and imagery.
- Technical Data: IP addresses and browser type used for security and analytics.
3. Social Media Authentication (Google & Facebook)
Our platform allows you to register and log in using your Google or Facebook accounts.
- Data Accessed: We only request access to your primary email address and public profile information (name).
- Data Usage: This data is used solely to create your local account and verify your identity.
- Revoking Access: You can disconnect VI Marketplace from your Google or Facebook account at any time through their respective security settings.
4. Data Sharing & Security
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Data is only shared with trusted service providers necessary to operate the platform, or if required by Canadian law (PIPEDA/PIPA).
All data is transmitted via secure SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your information as long as your account is active. We believe users should have full control over their data footprint:
- Self-Service Deletion: You can permanently delete your shop and all associated data via your Shop Settings dashboard.
- Social Deauthorization: Removing the VI Marketplace app from your Facebook "Apps and Websites" settings will trigger an automated request to our server to deauthorize your login.
- Manual Request: You may also request total data erasure by emailing info@vimarketplace.ca. Requests are processed within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
As a resident of British Columbia, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request that it be corrected or deleted under PIPA regulations.
Facebook Data Deletion Instructions
To remove your activities for VI Marketplace from Facebook:
- Go to your Facebook Profile's Settings & Privacy > Settings.
- Select Apps and Websites.
- Search for VI Marketplace and click Remove.
